There are many people who suffer from gastrointestinal disorders. Before I had an issue I didn't even know how to properly pronounce gastrointestinal.
My pain started a few years back. The pain would only come after a heavy mean. The pain started as a burning sensation in my stomach then it kept getting increasingly worse.
In beginning I used to take some over the counter medicine for my gastrointestinal problems. I basically tried to self medicate myself with whatever medications I could find at the pharmacy. Before long I had everything from Pepto Bismol to Gas-X, Mylanta and the whole enchilada.
Unfortunately no matter what I tried over the counter I could not get rid of my stomach pain. So I did what I had to do and phone my primary doctor. He then in turn referred me to a Gastroenterologist.
Well I described my problems to the doctor and he ordered some blood tests, stool tests, and an ultrasound.
I was overwhelmed by all the tests and was worried that I may soon find myself in a heap of medical bills.
The doctor concluded that I may have sludge in my gall bladder or some gall stones and these are causing me to have abdominal pains after I eat something heavy. Well at that point I decided to change my diet because I knew that the doctor might recommend surgery.
For about two months I tried to eat right, you know, no fast food, no greasy food, and nothing high in fat like cheese and butter. I was doing pretty good and I kept on rescheduling my appointment with my gastroenterologist.
But I couldn't keep up my new healthy diet for long and my gastrointestinal problems came back. Well as I write this I'm sitting in my chair and drinking some ginger ale as I wait another hour until I have my appointment with my gastroenterologist again.
Take care and pray for me
